The Mystery is Over!

Many of you know that we have been running a Mystery Table Runner contest in the past few issues of Quilter’s Connection. The big reveal – of the project and the randomly chosen winners – is in the Summer 2017 issue of the magazine. Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks to all who entered. It proved to be such a difficult task to choose the ‘best’ entries as we had originally intended, so we ended up throwing every name into a hat and blindly choosing the winners.

With well over 100 entries, there just weren’t enough pages in the magazine to publish all the wonderful photos. In fact, I don’t think there’s enough room in this blog post to share every single one of them, either! However, I did want to share with you our personal favourites – whether it was the creativity, the beautiful photography, the fabric choices, the unique quilting, or some entries where they just didn’t quite get it – there were many entries that struck a chord with the judges and the staff at QCMag!

There were a few ‘oops’ photos too, where the quilters missed something in the project instructions. We’re not going to name the quilters (save them from the embarrassment) but wanted to show you how easy it can be to make a mistake – and don’t we all know it! As for the rest of the images, if you click on the image, the name of the quilter appears.

This was so much fun – we’ll definitely have to do it again!

Only 32 entered and you couldn’t choose the winners????? I could see if you had 100s but 32?? They are all winners, don’t get me wrong but I am a bit bitter as I entered mine on time, never got a response and it didn’t even make it to the website!! This was my first ever entry and so you can well imagine how disappointed I am. Boy folks, you need to step up your game!!

Katharine, you were mistaken – if you read the text in the post, we actually received well over 100 entries! We were able to post only 32 photos in this blog post. Sorry to hear of your disappointment.

I agree with Katharine. You should not mount a contest and then throw the rules out the window. That’s very insulting. You are business people running a one of a kind Cdn. Quilting magazine and you show know better than to behave like airheads and then try to justify your behaviour. Of course it would be difficult to judge the entries when they are based on the same pattern. The complaint is legitimate and you should admit the mistake and apologize to all the entrants.
